Adopt an animal - your new friend is waiting for you!
We are happy about every animal that finds a new permanent home
Before you decide to adopt one of our animals, we ask you to carefully familiarize yourself with our placement process. Most of our dogs and cats are currently living at the shelter in the North East of Sri Lanka.
If you are interested in a particular animal, please send us an e-mail with the name of the animal and whether it is a dog or a cat (for example “Bobby the dog”). Please also include any questions you may have, which we will be happy to answer.
As soon as all questions have been answered, we will send one of our employees to you to carry out a preliminary inspection at your premises. This will ensure that the environment is suitable for both you and the animal. If everything fits, nothing stands in the way of a successful placement.
Our animals are only released for adoption when they are at least 9 to 12 months old, as they are only allowed to enter the country from third countries when they are at least 7 months old. Before adoption, all animals are examined by a vet, neutered, vaccinated, chipped and dewormed. If the animal is still in Sri Lanka, we arrange a so-called flight sponsor for transportation to Germany.

The transport costs for cats and dogs vary depending on weight and airline, but on average, they amount to approximately €600. Of this, around €350 covers the actual flight costs. This amount is to be transferred to Conny’s Mensch&Tierhilfe gUG after the animal has been taken over. You will, of course, receive all relevant receipts and documentation from us.
We will arrange the transport and coordinate the exact arrival date with you. You can then pick up your new furry companion directly at the airport. After an appropriate settling-in period, we would like to conduct a follow-up visit to ensure that both you and your new pet are adjusting well. We would be very happy to receive photos of your new family member – with your consent, we would also like to share some of them on our channels.
As we do not generate any income from the animal placements, we rely on additional donations to support our work and would greatly appreciate any contributions.
