Adopt an animal - your new friend is waiting for you!
We are happy about every animal that finds a new permanent home
Before you decide to adopt one of our animals, we ask you to carefully familiarize yourself with our placement process. Most of our dogs and cats are currently living at the shelter in the North East of Sri Lanka.
If you are interested in a particular animal, please send us an e-mail with the name of the animal and whether it is a dog or a cat (for example “Bobby the dog”). Please also include any questions you may have, which we will be happy to answer.
As soon as all questions have been answered, we will send one of our employees to you to carry out a preliminary inspection at your premises. This will ensure that the environment is suitable for both you and the animal. If everything fits, nothing stands in the way of a successful placement.
Our animals are only released for adoption when they are at least 9 to 12 months old, as they are only allowed to enter the country from third countries when they are at least 7 months old. Before adoption, all animals are examined by a vet, neutered, vaccinated, chipped and dewormed. If the animal is still in Sri Lanka, we arrange a so-called flight sponsor for transportation to Germany.
The cost of transportation varies depending on weight and airline and averages around €200 for cats and €600 for dogs. These costs must be transferred to Conny’s Mensch&Tierhilfe gUG after the animal has been adopted, and we will provide you with the relevant receipts.
We will take care of the transportation and after making an appointment you can receive your new companion at the airport of arrival. After the acclimatization period, we would like to do a follow-up check with you to make sure that you and your new pet are doing well. We would also be delighted to receive photos of your new pet and, with your permission, would be happy to share some of them online.
As we do not receive any income from the placement of the animals, we are dependent on additional donations.
